Method 1: Installing FreeCAD from the default Fedora repository

FreeCAD is available in the default Fedora package repository so you can directly install it by using the dnf command.

Before you run the command to install a package make sure the packages on your system are updated –

sudo dnf update -y

Next, run the given command to install FreeCAD on a Fedora system –

sudo dnf install freecad

Method 3: Installing FreeCAD snap package

Snaps are containerized packages that can be used across the different distributions of Linux. It comes preinstalled in Ubuntu but on Fedora first, you need to set up Snapd and then you can install and use a snap package –

To install snapd on Fedora use –

sudo dnf install snapd

Next, enable the classic snap support, enter the following to create a symbolic link between /var/lib/snapd/snap and /snap

sudo ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap /snap

Finally, use the given command to install FreeCAD snap –

sudo snap install freecad

Open FreeCAD in Fedora
